DIY Starter Kit to Digital PR

Everything you say or do is PR. This applies to your brand's digital footprint too! Here are some basic starter tips to get your digital brand presence cleaned up and ready to grow. Best of all, none of these basic digital PR strategies will cost you a cent.

Start with spring cleaning your social media accounts across all your platforms.

#1 Update your social media platforms.

Update your profile/bio sections, include relevant links, location and contact details to provide potential customers and clients all the relevant information to know your brand and get in touch with you.

Create a username for your page so that its shareable and even easier for people to find you (e.g. fb.com/madhatasia)

Evaluate all the different sections, buttons, plugins provided by the various platforms and use those most relevant to you. Facebook especially has a wealth of buttons and Page sections to customise the perfect business Page for your brand.

#2 Clean up your content.

See What's Next in entertainment and Netflix original series, movies, TV, docs, and comedies. You can stream Netflix anytime, anywhere, on any device.

Think about what you'd like to share on your various social media platforms. Don't be afraid to archive old posts if they no longer speak to your brand (if it doesn't bring you joy, it likely won't bring joy to your followers either).

Have a plan to keep your pages updated regularly, including lining up archives of posts that can be uploaded when you're too busy to create new content. Past work, company culture, shout outs to others in your industry and thought leadership pieces (LinkedIn is great for this) are some ideas of evergreen content that you could line up in your arsenal of social media posts.

With your social media platforms cleaned up and oozing brand confidence, drive more relevant audiences to your platforms.

#3 Give influencer marketing a go.

Influencer marketing might be a fitting strategy to boost your brand visibility to your target audience. Identify influencers who will benefit from what your brand has to offer and/or resonate with your brand values. Then reach out, build a relationship and keep them engaged by providing them with value.

Remember that all your customers are potential influencers. Not just people with hundreds of thousands of social media followers.

Finally, build backlinks to continue to push web traffic to your site. 

#4 Build your SEO ratings with backlinks.

Keep an eye out for any potential opportunities to engage with your audiences online, to drive them back to your website to find out more. This includes guest blogging, getting onto podcasts or on the multitude of online panels happening now on Facebook Live, Zoom, IG Live (you get the idea).

Reach out to online media and blogs most relevant to your brand. Provide them with information on your brand, product and/or service and clearly communicate why it might be relevant to their readers. Chances are, if they are interested in your brand, so will their readers! Provide the journalist or editor with images (not just logos, please) and even video content that could help them tell their readers about you.
